이번 EnM 30권 1호에는 5개의 review articles과 8편의 original articles이 실렸습니다. 특히 이번 호에는 2014년 남곡학술상을 수상하신 김원배교수님께서 “A closer look at papillary thyroid carcinoma”라는 제목으로 최근 많이 논란이 되고 있는 papillary thyroid cancer의 증가원인과 이와 관련된 최신지견에 대해서 정리해 주셨습니다. 또한 이번 호에서는 “Clinical Guidelines for the Diagnosis and Treatment of Cushing’s Disease in Korea”라는 제목으로 쿠싱병에 관한 국내자료와 전문가들의 의견을 바탕으로 쿠싱병의 진단과 치료에 대한 guidelines을 정리하였습니다. 민용기교수님께서 “Update on Denosumab Treatment in Postmenopausal Women with Osteoporosis”라는 제목으로 RANKL의 human recombinant monoclonal anti¬body인 denosumab과 관련된 최근 임상결과에 대해서 정리해 주셨습니다. 서울의대 신찬수교수님께서 “The Risks and Benefits of Calcium Supplementation”라는 제목으로 calcium supplementation와 관련해서 심혈관 질환이 증가할 수 있다는 논란에 대해서 리뷰해 주셨으며, 세계적으로 calcium intake가 낮은 나라에 속하는 우리나라 사람에서는 calcium supplementation이 어떨지에 대해서 정리해 주셨습니다. University of Rochester Medical Center의 Brendan F. Boyce교수님께서 “NF-κB-Mediated Regulation of Osteoclastogenesis” 라는 제목으로 NF-κB signaling이 osteoclast formation과 activation에 어떻게 관여하는지에 대해서 정리해 주셨습니다.

원저로 “Increased Sclerostin Levels after Further Ablation of Remnant Estrogen by Aromatase Inhibitors”논문은 endocrine-responsive breast cancer를 동반한 폐경후 여성에서 aromatase inhibitors복용 후에 sclerostin levels이 증가한다는 결과를 보여주었습니다. “Mitochondrial Complexes I and II Are More Susceptible to Autophagy Deficiency in Mouse β-Cells”논문은 β-cells에서의 autophagy deficiency가 mitochondrial dysfunction (특히 mitochondrial respiratory complexed I and II)를 유발함을 보여주었습니다. “Risk of Malignancy in Thyroid Incidentalomas Identified by Fluorodeoxyglucose-Positron Emission Tomography”논문은 PET촬영상 우연히 발견된 thyroid incidentalomas (n=36)에서 악성위험도를 분석해 보았을 때, 41.7%환자에서 갑상선암으로 진단되었다는 결과를 보였습니다. “Metformin-Associated Lactic Acidosis: Predisposing Factors and Outcome”논문은 metformin-associated lactic acidosis (MALA) 환자 7명에 대해서 MALA의 위험인자 및 치료방법 등에 대해서 분석하였습니다. “Optimal Candidates for the Switch from Glimepiride to Sitagliptin to Reduce Hypoglycemia in Patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus”논문은 symptomatic hypoglycemia로 입원한 환자에서 glimepiride에서 sitagliptin으로 변경 후에 성공적으로 혈당관리가 가능했던 환자의 특징에 대해서 분석한 논문으로, 인슐린 저항성이 높고, 입원 당시 HbA1c가 낮은 환자에서 glimepiride에서 sitagliptin으로 성공적으로 변경 가능하였다고 제시하였습니다.

위에 소개한 논문 이외에도 다양한 내분비 영역의 우수한 논문들이 이번 호에 실렸습니다.
